Meeting Minutes

August 13, 2009

 

Issues to Cover:

 

  1. Tournament Pairings and Blast-off order for the Cordell Lake Tourn. out of the Roaring River Rec. Area ramp. (Saturday, August 22, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) We will leave from the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4:00 a.m.

 

  1. Special note from July meeting; We decided that fish would be put into bags of water for the weigh-in once the Tournament Director (V.P) called for fish. We once again talked about how important it is to take good care of the fish that we catch, from the time we catch them until we release them back into the water after the weigh-in. Especially when the air and water temperatures rise above (75*, air) and (70*, water). And during the August meeting, Lee Currier (Fish), Dewayne Dotson (Scales), Joe Shappard (Camera) and Bill Yancy (Scales) volunteered to assist Mitch Farley during the tournament weigh-ins.

  1. Discussion of July’s winning lures and patterns. Caney Fork River, Weather; 91* humid & 10-20 mph west winds at 5 p.m., 80* & calm at 8 p.m. and 75* with south winds of 5 mph by 11 p.m., water 799.80-800.00’, 80-84*, Boat # 8; 1st & 6th, redbud ribbon tail worm in 3-20 0f water, Boat # 9, 2nd & 15th, crank baits and brush hog in 8-10’ of water, Boat # 10; 3rd  & 15th, red finesse worm on shaky head in 20’ of water, big fish 4.08 lbs.(LMB) was caught by boat # 8 fishing in 3-5’ of water. Most fish caught in 5-10’ of water.

 

  1. Dewayne Dotson presented the idea of having a youth club associated with our Sparta Bass Club. A vote was taken and it was decided to try and establish a youth club before next year. He also talked about the state meeting in November and issues related to that meeting. Ricky and Dewayne to attend this meeting.

Announcements:

 

  1. 20 members attended the July meeting; we had 26 people fish the Caney Fork River Tournament, 5 guests attended.

 

  1. Caney Fork River Results: 1st Steve Masters; 5/5, 8.90 lbs., 2nd Dewayne Dotson; 3/3, 2.95 lbs., 3rd Ricky England; 3/3, 2.79 lbs., & Big Fish caught by Steve Masters; 4.08lbs. L.M.B. We caught 28 fish with a total weight of 31.42 lbs.

 

  1. The 2009 TBF Western Divisional State Tournament will be held on Kentucky Lake, New Johnsonville Ramp, October 1-3rd.

 

  1. The 2009 TBF Eastern Divisional State Tournament will be held on Watts Bar Lake, Rockwood, TN, October 15-17th out of the Rockwood Park Ramp. This is in Roane County. The Registration (1-3 p.m. eastern time) and Pairings (6 p.m. eastern time) meetings will be held at Roane State Community College, 276 Patton Ln., Harriman, TN 37748. A $500.00 deposit has been sent in to Arrowhead Resort, 261 Bennett Dr., Spring City, TN 37381 on Watts Bar Lake to reserve 3 separate rooms to house 4 members each for Oct. 10-17th, separate beds for each member are available.

 

  1. The 2009 TBF State meeting will be held November 7th at a time and location TBD.

 

  1. Army Corp of Engineers; Center Hill Dam Seepage Reduction Website, please refer to the following for recent developments and updates. http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/CenterHill/ We will post a link on our club site. A chart of ramp elevations was passed around at the meeting also.
